This watercolor painting was made on location ("en plein air") while staying in the town of Medanales, New Mexico in 2024. Every evening as the sun set behind the Sierra Negra Mountain range, a flock of white-crowned sparrows would arrive in the bushes in the foreground to roost for the night and sing the sun to sleep.
